Batter up! The Outreach Committee added a NEW service project to their calendar this year. In June, we participated in the Baseballtown Dream League, a non-profit organization that gives individuals with physical and mental disabilities the chance to play a game of baseball. The facility is custom-designed, to accommodate wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries.
The R-BAR members that volunteered provide assistance to the players during the game and to make sure that everyone has fun and stays safe! This is a really FUN way to give back to the community and meet some awesome people. Thanks to our members that participated on our team: Jack Evans, Todd Hummel, Steve Drager, and Gary Brown. And thanks to Steve for capturing the fun on camera!
The Dream League has two seasons, spring and fall. If your office or team is interested in volunteering for one of their games, and would like to be added to their e-mail list to be notified when volunteer sign-ups are open, please contact Tonya Petrunak TPetrunak@fightins.com. Volunteer opportunities are available during the week (usually Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 5:30pm – 8pm) or Weekends (usually Saturday at 10am.) If you are interested in joining RBAR’s next team of volunteers for the Dream League, or have any questions, please contact Kathy Stoica at
Fall season begins after Labor Day. More information about the Dream League can be found at https://baseballtown.org/dreamleague.html
