On Friday, December 4th at the Fairgrounds Farmers Market, local REALTORS in Berks volunteered once again to stand tall and join in ringing the bell for the Salvation Army's traditional holiday fundraiser. REALTOR Ring Day debuted in 2010 with a few hundred Minnesota and North Dakota REALTORS ringing bells on a single day.  Each year since then, the event has grown to national proportions as hundreds of REALTORS across the country ring bells together, on one single day.

During our 8 hours, the Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS sent 7 members who took turns standing post next to the infamous red kettle enthusiastically ringing the bells to call for donations.  Our efforts helped raise $665 to help rescue Christmas with this national REALTOR Christmas tradition!  The monies dropped into the red kettle serves our local community.  According to Salvation Army statistics, in the timeframe REALTORS in Berks volunteered, enough funds were raised in our 8 hours to feed a family of four for an entire month!

The Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS has been proud to participate in this Christmas tradition to support the efforts of the Salvation Army that started in 1891 with Captain Joseph McFee's resolve to provide a free Christmas dinner to 1,000 of the city's poorest individuals.  We hope to keep volunteering in future years and "Keep the Pot Boiling" as Captain McFee's original sign called for with the first ever kettle that funded his vision to feed those in need and started this amazing tradition!

Please consider signing-up to ring this year on your own or with your family/group.  Volunteers still being accepted here:  https://registertoring.com/
