R-BAR proudly sponsored the Making Attractive, Sustainable, Berks County Neighborhoods Housing Forum, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters Berks and Albright Center for Excellence in Local Government, that took place on June 9th.
Our members attended the housing forum, moderated table discussions, and provided first-hand accounts of what it’s like working with consumers in the current market conditions. Al Perry, PAR President-Elect, provided insight from the REALTOR® perspective. David Hunter, Executive Director of Berks County Planning Commission, as well as Jamal Adodalo, Community Development Director, spoke on the ways leaders are working to make Reading and surrounding areas thrive and grow. Dr. Kennon Rice, Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of Urban Affairs Program at Albright College also was on hand to assist the discussion on ways to move forward.
The first step to addressing the current housing crisis is to bring everyone together to discuss shared concerns and challenges impacting housing. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Homeownership Month than to actively seek and advocate for ways to rectify the housing crisis.
